Christian Reflections on Everyday Life and Faith

This site shares Christian reflections on everyday life for those seeking some meaning in a crazy world, and for Christians who want something more than a basic faith. Humans are meaning-seeking creatures and the following reflections try to respond to the many serious questions I have been asked over my years as an Anglican priest, spiritual director and prison chaplain.

St Iraneus said that the glory of God is a human being fully alive. God’s desire is for our flourishing, and Stan Moses’ mosaic at All Saint’s, Ayr clearly shows Christ rejoicing in his glorified humanity. We are all called to share in this joy.

But real life is not all joy; the chaos of life needs a faith that responds to the reality of suffering. This blog is a series of reflections on where I see that holiness entering the messy, everyday lives of people, on the transformative nature of God, and also a series of weekly Gospel messages which Lay Ministers may wish to use for their services, or simply to spur reflections.

And what does the square halo mean? Ancient Christian mosaics placed a square halo on a person still alive but considered a saint. Few think of ourselves as holy, but even though we are flawed, the square halo reminds us that we are still touched by God’s presence, even when we often feel like a square peg in a round hole! These Christian reflections on everyday life explore how God’s presence can be found even in ordinary and difficult moments.

I invite you to email me with questions about Scripture or the Christian faith and I will try to respond to these.
